An Abandoned Island. . .

Life on an island for me is lonely, harsh, but quite serene. I ended up here to explore a Japanese island with no longer people and life. But unfortunately, the boat that brought me was no longer seen! I still don’t know ‘till this day if the boat left on purpose, sunk, or some other unknown reason! The island is an old isle with trash, looks like people used to live here, (but since it’s so small, I’m predicting it held only held one-hundred people). Everywhere I spot it seems to have tall, compact buildings that have vines invading the houses with the faint smell of rust. The weather weekly is usually clouds covering up the sky, partly cloudy. I decided to place my home in an abandoned apartment that was five floors, though the top floor is slowly crumbling and rotting away. I might have to move to another building if something else happens! My daily routine consists of waking up with an old sleeping bag I found in an abandoned convenience store. After going to the edge of the island to get some salt water, I consider to make a fire to make the water drinkable. As well as to find a squirrel or a bird to cook and eat, though it is highly challenging. After eating, I do my best to search for any goods along the island’s shore and abandoned city. Once complete, I try cleaning up the isle here and there, (mostly the trash). After the sun sets, I eat once more before going to bed back in my sleeping back in the abandoned apartment room. What a stressful day!

Rad Reading – January!

During this month, I read (finished) It’s Not Summer Without You. (The second book of the series.) The author is Jenny Han. In this book, Conrad and Jeremiah (both brothers), live in a beach house. Belly, the main character, is unfortunately not visiting the house this summer because of the death, Susannah, the mom of the two brothers. But Jeremiah suddenly calls Belly, saying Conrad has gone missing. When she arrives, she realizes that Conrad has left college for the week and his final is up ahead. Unfortunately, they also realize that both of the brothers’ dad, Mr. Fisher, is trying to sell the beach house. With these unexplained events, will Conrad go back to college, will Mr. Fisher sell the house, or will Belly have to say goodbye forever? Something I love about this book is how the whole novel is not set in the beach house. It’s something different than the first book, with many more places and areas not yet discovered. Which is awesome since we’re not stuck on the beach setting. My favorite character was Belly, the main character. She’s my favorite character because she’s funny and lights up the book. She is not a main character that you think is overreactive, it’s that you actually relate to her. One of her character traits is apologetic when she’s talking to Conrad out of guilt, on page two-hundred & two, “‘At the funeral I was awful to you. I was horrible and I’m so ashamed of how I acted. It wasn’t how I wanted things to go, not at all.’” Meaning, she feels bad because of the things she did to Conrad, and she wants to erase them since of how bad she felt. My favorite quote in this book is, “Just like that, the moment was over. It was an almost moment, where almost anything could have happened. But he had made it over.” This is my favorite quote because I think its relatable, I believe the author made this in an empathetic way. It shows how you want to have fun with someone, to talk about something, but it either goes by too fast or someone messes it up. That’s what I read and finished this month!

My Favorite Ramen Restaurant. . .

Ever wondered what a good ramen restaurant was? Well, I have one for you. One of my favorite restaurants is Yoshiharu Ramen. Anytime someone wants to know a good place to go, that’s always my go-to answer! My reason for this is because the restaurant has a good design, it’s a traditional Japanese aesthetic. It makes you feel like you’re actually there eating ramen in Japan. It also makes it fill more comforting, with booths and chairs filling any corner. When eating the food there, you don’t want to leave! Another reason why I picked this as one of my favorite ramen stores is because the ramen is fantastic! They have many good types of ramen, including; miso, tonkotsu, and many more! This place is excellent, considering it’s a ramen shop! The ramen comes with chicken and pork, and many other items! My friends and family tried this, (some never eat ramen), and said it was fantastic and they would go again! One more reason why I like this place is because they not only serve ramen, they serve many other things. For example, miso soup, katsū, and rice & curry. Since this place is a ramen restaurant, they have many other yummy treats and foods. Though this place is known for ramen, there other food is none-other than good as well! I hope you will have the time out of your day to visit this ramen restaurant if there is one near you!

Dumbledore’s Famous Quote!

One of Dumbledore’s famous quote is, “We must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy.” – Albus Dumbledore. I interpreted the quote by thinking even if something is easy, it might not lead to the right choice for you. Just because you don’t break a sweat when you do something, it doesn’t mean that it was the right option. Maybe the thing you do might be easy, but will it lead to success? Meaning that you need to push yourself, you won’t go far by doing something you think is easy and quick. It won’t lead to personal growth or ideas. If you think something is hard, and if you achieve it, that’s the right decision. This relates to me by pushing myself more, if I don’t, it won’t make me learn or grow. Sometimes, I try to choose the easy way because it’s faster, but because of this quote, even if it’s the harder option, I will try my best to choose the better option, and instead, that will make my option right. How have you interpreted the quote?

The Person I Admire!

Someone who is my hero, who I greatly admire is Fujii Kaze. A Japanese songwriter and singer. He has made a popular song like, Shinunoga E-Wa, that was trending in 2022 for quite some time. I chose this person as my hero because he makes amazing songs, the beats are catchy and makes you wanna  sing along even if you don’t know Japanese. I’ve heard his songs so many times to the point where I’ve memorized them, even though they’re in a different language! Another reason why he is my hero is because he was number one on Billboard Japan’s Hot Album chart and got numerous prestigious awards in Japan. This just shows how talented he is, someone who doesn’t care about their own work won’t get multiple awards. If a person wanted to start a career like that, they can easily look up to him. He isn’t a one-hit wonder! Especially because singing a song is already hard, but writing it is even more better. One more reason why he is a person I greatly admire to is how he is really good at the piano. Since I do piano, it would be nice to learn his songs, and it inspires myself to keep learning the instrument. Over all, Fujii Kaze is talented, popular, and an amazing musician. I hope you can listen to his tunes here & there!

Rad Reading – December!

During this month, I read (and still am) It’s Not Summer Without You. The author is Jenny Han. This is the second book of the series, The Summer I Turned Pretty. Currently on page seventy-five, with about two-hundred pages left. The plot for this book is Belly finally gets the boy of her dreams, Conrad Fisher. But her short relationship goes downhill after her summer ends, (meaning unable to stay at the beach house where the brothers, Jeremiah and Conrad live). Now, the next summer (which is when the book starts), is the first summer without staying over at the beach house with the two boys. In the middle of her lonely summer with her best friend: Taylor, Belly gets a phone call from Jeremiah on how Conrad has gone missing. In this book, Belly is trying to realize if she is still chasing after Conrad, if she should move on, or perhaps a certain brother might be trying to win her heart? Something I love so far about the book when reading is how Jeremiah currently has feelings for Belly, which makes this tangled love-triangle of two brothers, with her in the middle. It adds a chaotic mess into the book which I love! My favorite character so far is Taylor, Belly’s best friend since childhood. She’s so sassy and fun in her own way, which makes her unique in my eyes. Though she can be selfish sometimes, she always tries to help Belly. One of her character traits is supportive when giving Belly advice on page fifty, “‘Maybe he’s not crazy. But, like, what? Are you always just going to be sitting around waiting for him? Whenever he wants?’” This quote means she wants Belly to snap out of her love-daze on Conrad, and wants something productive going on in her life. My favorite quote so far in It’s Not Summer Without You is when Belly is talking about Jeremiah, “Everything took more effort, his jokes, his smiles. Nothing was easy anymore.” This is my favorite because I think this describes a lot of people going through tough times, even I. It’s also worded beautifully. That’s what I read in December.

Word of Intention!

One word that will stick through my mind in this new year of 2025 is serene. I chose this word to stay with me because I’m a type of person who has bad anxiety, it is hard to overcome situations I think are hard for me. Even with my homework, I may only have three things to do. . . and I struggle to think I have enough time, as well as to remember to stay positive. With this one word of mine, I hope to remember to stay calm and serene during situations like these and have a better time when I’m struggling, think of the bright side. When dealing with family, it’s hard not to get angry if we are talking about something upsetting. That’s why, before I say anything I would regret later, I would think of my word of 2025, and change the way I act, especially if it’s someone dear to me. This way, we can avoid conflicts not just as friends, but as a family. My last reason why I chose the word serene is because this is the way I would want someone to describe my day. I would like my day pleasant, chill, and calm. There wouldn’t be anything too upsetting and there won’t be anything that would cause major anxiety; this is what a normal day I would like in this new year. What is your word of intention for 2025?

Rad Reading – November!

During this month, I read (and still am, because of the large book), the Lockwood and Co. Series, book five: The Empty Grave. The last book, sadly, I am currently on page one-hundred & eighty-nine, with about four-hundred pages to go! The author is Jonathan Stroud. In the story, Lucy, a girl who can use Listening, (which is an ability to hear things in the past with touch), who also spots apparitions, realizes the truth about the most famous person in London, Penelope Fittes. Part of the company: Lucy, George, Lockwood, and Holly, (with an assistant named Kipps), are shocked to learn the woman with the best, most-popular ghost agency is not all that. In this book, they uncover more about Penelope, learn more on Lockwood’s past, and might thee Penelope Fittes be trying to shut down their agency? Some things I love about the book as I am currently reading is how the book expands your word vocabulary. Sometimes you have to even search up the word. The book also has the right amount of horror, not too little, though not too much on how you won’t sleep at night. The book is great with the lights off, indeed! My favorite character actually changed this book, it has now changed to Kipps, the assistant. I realized this because he might be funny like George, but because he has turned the age of twenty-one (an adult), he cannot see ghosts anymore. So, it’s funny how he’s older than everyone though acts like a child to the rest of the small agency. One his character traits is sarcastic, we could see on page one-hundred & eighty-one when George was going to explain a long explanation, “‘Pass me a pillow,’ Kipps said. ‘This is going to take hours. I can feel it.’” This shows he doesn’t want to waste time, even though George is talking about something so critical. My favorite quote in The Empty Grave was when Lucy heard a scream from someone, “It was higher and shriller than Holly’s, so we knew that it was Kipps.” This is my favorite quote because he’s a grown man and he still has a higher scream than anyone in the agency. That is what I read in November!

Being a Principal!

If the principal was out sick, and therefore I was in charge, here is what my day would be like! When the bright sun shines on all of the full classrooms of kids, I would go and check each one to see how they are doing, if they’re being responsible, and what type of area they are learning in. It would be nice to see different classes as well for the nice teachers! After, I would check and send emails. This way, I could be on task and see if anyone needs my help around the school. I wouldn’t want to ignore emails while my time of being a principal. Being a principal for the day, I would demand payment. It doesn’t have to be a lot, but I would like to expect a little money or so from running a whole school. This way it would encourage me to do more things on that day, and it would make me feel like my day counted. Another thing I would do to make kids happy as being the principal would be to have no homework once you leave school. It is only one day, so it wouldn’t be bad or irresponsible for kids, they would still learn. Instead of them struggling with math homework, they could spend time with family and have a relaxing time! That day of running the school, everyone with leave at exactly 1:15 PM (including teachers), it isn’t too early, but it isn’t too long. This way, you could eat lunch and then go straight home after with a full stomach. It also allows free time, along with no homework. Uh oh, it looks like the principal is back! I guess that’s the whole time of my day!

Thankful During Thanksgiving!

It is the time of year for people to think about how thankful they are! Multiple things pop into my mind about being thankful. Though, here are my top three things I will be grateful for this year during the time of Thanksgiving! I am very thankful for my family, friends, and close relatives. I always look forward to seeing them after a long day of school, to spend time with them, watch movies, and help with my homework or something I don’t understand in a certain area of a subject. When we have parties, they are always there with me, and I think the more close you are to family, the more happier you are. Another thing that pops up in my mind about being thankful is for the food we eat. Sadly, some people can’t go out and get dinner, fast-food anytime they desire, or have to skip meals. So, I’m very grateful that I can have the food I wish, and we can pay for it. My last (though I still have more), thing I will be talking about is how I’m thankful for Japanese culture. This includes anime, the food, and their comic-like books (manga). Without these, I don’t know what I’d do in life if I was bored? What would I watch? What would I eat if I could pick? Because of the culture, I’ve learned how to respect different cultures, try new foods, and discover new styles of clothing. I hope everyone has a good, happy Thanksgiving. These are my top three most things I am thankful for!
